Types of hair growth products

Losing your hair can be an extremely devastating and emotional experience. As someone who experienced hair loss, I can attest that it is something very difficult to go through.  Hair loss can strip you of your confidence and make you feel unattractive.  While going through my experience of losing my hair, I searched for remedies and products that could help me. I would compare hair loss products, read hair loss product reviews and I try to find hair loss products that work.  I came across some products that sounded like scams that wanted a ton of money without even guaranteeing that the product would indeed work. I have tried numerous hair loss treatments and products and as such, I feel like I have an idea of what’s out there.
There are many products to regrow hair that are unsafe or unproven to work.  It is a good idea to use products that are FDA approved if they are a drug to be on the safe side. It’s always a good idea to check out a product and ask questions before you purchase anything.
First a word about a main cause of hair loss:
Most hair loss in adults comes from DHT which is the stronger form of the hormone testosterone. DHT contributes both to male and female pattern baldness. DHT accumulates in the hair follicles through which the hair grows. As a result, hair cannot get through and the follicles begin to die which leads to hair loss.
It’s really not enough to buy a product that will regrow hair if you have hair loss because the DHT will continue to kill hair follicles. It is important to get a product that will effectively block the DHT from accumulating. One such product that I have used is called Minoxidil.  Minoxidil is a DHT blocker and stops the hair from continued loss. There are two types of Minoxidil, though- %5 and %2.  The %5 is a stronger solution and it’s only for men and the %2 is for women as it’s less strong. I happened to have used the %5 because I was told to by a dermatologist as my hair loss was continuing. This is a very strong product and you must be careful never to get it near your eyes or on any other part of your body.
There are many other types of products, both natural and not. There are natural essential oils, natural herbs, conventional drugs (like Minoxidil), lotions, shampoos and serums. Some help combat and fix the hair loss problem by blocking the DHT and growing hair back and some are purely cosmetic and help to cover up for the missing hair.
I’m going to give you some more in detail tips on what to do and not do to facilitate hair growth.
I’ll begin with the most natural hair loss prevention tip, which is vitamins. It is important to make sure that you get your daily dose of all the vitamins you need and if you are not, it’s important to take supplements.  Vitamin A helps grow healthy cells all around your body including your hair and it can be found mainly in green leafy vegetables like spinach, in fortified milk and fish oils among other things.Vitamin B Complex is essential to have healthy looking hair and can be found in liver, whole grains, fish and eggs. Vitamin C is important because when one has a Vitamin C deficiency, the hairs begin to get split ends and break easily. It is found in potatoes, tomatoes, citrus fruits and green leafy vegetables.  Vitamin E is also very important in that it helps circulate the blood to the scalp to let nutrients to get to the follicles. Vitamin E can be found in vegetable oils, nuts and grains. These vitamins for hair loss prevention maintain the health and shine of your hair and strengthen it.
Many believe that massaging the scalp helps prevent hair loss because it get the blood circulating and many people will go for massages weekly. Saw Palmetto extract is an extract from a fruit used by the Native Americans and is widely believed to be helpful in preventing hair loss. When looking at remedies to help prevent hair loss keep in mind that natural remedies are usually reliable hair loss prevention products which don’t come with side effects.
Pulling the hair back too tightly in a ponytail or the like can sometimes cause hair loss so that should be avoided. Some say to use silk or satin pillowcases as opposed to the cotton or linen one you are already using as the silk one creates less friction to the hair while you sleep which can exacerbate hair loss. Last but not least, try a good hair loss prevention shampoo which you should preferably ask your dermatologist to refer.
Regardless of which methods you decide to implement, keep in mind that most of the advertisements on TV selling products to enhance or grow your hair are scams which can easily rob you of your money so be wary!
